CIBOR’s Imaging Core is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art microscopic and animal imaging resources to assist our biocompatibility and bioengineering research by generating high-resolution images and analyses.
Digital imaging microscopy
Available Core technology includes:
- An inverted microscope for viewing living specimens in dishes or flasks
- A multi-parameter fluorescence microscope and a digital image capture/processing system for transmitted light and fluorescence imaging
Scanco in vivo MicroCT
A small animal micro CT scanner is available to non-invasively image hard tissues’ changes in experimental animals. Bone substitute materials, composite scaffolds, and other orthopaedic implants are evaluated in animal models for compatibility, mechanical strength, durability, and safety issues. The MicroCT system kinetically provides 2D and 3D images, and associated information, without sacrificing the animals. |
