CIBOR’s Biocompatibility Core provides testing to determine both toxic and stimulatory outcomes in a variety of in vitro and in vivo settings. Typical evaluations include:
- In vitro cellular adaptation using fibroblastic, macrophage, and osteoblastic cell lines
- In vitro cellular responses in cell populations from specific patient populations
- Determination of inflammatory reactions using cellular and cytokine based responses
- Short-term in vivo biocompatibility testing to establish reactivity using the established murine air pouch model
- Long-term in vivo biocompatibility testing to establish compatibility with respect to bioengineering concepts (compression, interface strength, structural failure) and biological outcomes of tissue biocompatibility and osteointegration
Assay systems are in place to determine biocompatibility at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organ specific levels. |
